Savaria
Savaria is the ancient name of a Hungarian town that is now known as Szombathely (Sum ba’ tay). The full name of the town was actually Colonia Claudia Savaria and was founded during the Roman Empire in 45 AD long before Hungary became established as a country.
While the town no longer bears the name of Savaria, the local dance club carries on the name. The Savaria Dance Club is located in the center of Szombathely and was established in the early 1960’s. In June of every year, the Savaria Dance Club hosts one of the oldest international dance competitions – Savaria Tancverseny. This competition is attended by many of today’s top competitors. The Savaria Dance Club is one of the leading dance studios in Europe. The Club instructs students from the age of 6 through adult and has produced many talented dancers – including ten world champions. The Club’s Formation Team has been ranked 4th in the world.
After learning this story of Savaria, we adopted the name for our studio, and at a corporate meeting held at a local bistro we unanimously made the name official – Savaria Dance Studio.
